Chapter ten was all about teachers getting together and collaborating with each other.  Professional learning communities allow different schools to try out different online tools and collaborate with each other about what they liked about it.  Twitter is a great platform to use as a blog. RSS feeds are a way for users to import a collection of websites and generate one feed for all of them for easy access to skimming all of them at the same time. Internet projects are something I have never heard of before. I have heard of pen palls before which are also really neat but I’ve never hears of Internet projects. Internet projects are a way to have collaborative projects with local, national, and even international colleagues. I would love to try this in my own classroom one day. I would enjoy researching this more. I would love to learn more about if it is just the teachers collaborating with each other or if the students ever get to talk to each other. Another thing I would like to research further is The Flat Stanley Project. Flat Stanley was a big part of my childhood. The blurb in this chapter leaves me confused on whether the children are reading Flat Stanley and tracking his journey or if the children themselves are going on a journey and pretending Flat Stanley came along. It is interesting to me that many people comment on the fact that they aren’t on social media and feel as though they are better than anyone who is on them however; they are great platforms for teacher to communicate with each other and collaborate ideas. Digital teaching portfolios are a wonderful idea. Being able to share the portfolio easily with anyone you want is a great tool. The fact that you may add videos, images, and links is amazing. Digital portfolios need to be easy to navigate and not loaded with too much information. I enrolled in this class because I decided to add a reading minor. After reading chapter one I was very worried and wondering why I would decide to add a reading minor. After reading this tenth and final chapter I am actually kind of disappointed the book is over because I learned so many new things to use in my classroom one day. I am definitely going to be continuing on with my reading minor.

  2. I loved chapter ten, since it showed how we as future teachers can use these professional strategies for continuing learning and learning how to collaborate with other teachers. I think this chapter was really helpful in showing me that there was definitely a support system for teachers like us, and we shouldn't worry too much, because us teachers are all in this together!
